Development of Concrete - Polymer Composite (3) - Physical Properties of Polymer ( Resin ) Mortar -

Abstract

For high-performance composite material applications, performances of polymer mortars using unsaturated polyester resin as a polymer-binder were investigated. Twenty specimens of polymer mortars were prepared with various dosage of calcium carbonate microfiller (8∼14 wt%), unsaturated polyester resin as a polymer-binder (8∼16 wt%) and fine aggregate (70∼84 wt%). For the evaluation of the physical properties of polymer mortars, measurements of compressive and flexural strength, water absorption test, hot water immersion test, acid resistance test and pore size distribution analysis were conducted. As a result, it is concluded that compressive and flexural strengths of polymer mortars were remarkably increased with increase of the polymer-binder content, however, water absorption (%) of polymer mortars was greatly decreased. By the hot water immersion test, the remarkable decreases of compressive and flexural strengths of polymer mortars were confirmed. It was shown that the larger the amount ofadded polymer-binder content, the larger was in the decreased rate of strengths. Shown by the hot water immersion test, the porosity of polymer mortars was increased by 60.1%; especially, the porosity of 10(2)∼10(5) Å pore diameter increased remarkable. Also, by sulfuric acid immersion test it is showed that weight loss (%) and strength reduction (%) of polymer mortars were decreased remarkably with the increase of polymer-binder. In 16 wt% of polymer-binder, the values of polymer mortars approached to zero percent.

초록

고기능성 복합재료로 활용하기 위하여 불포화폴리에스테르 수지를 폴리머-결합재로 사용한 폴리머 모르타르의 물성에 대하여 조사하였다. 폴리머-결합재의 첨가량을 8∼16 wt%, 탄산칼슘 충전재의 첨가량을 8∼14 wt%로 다양하게 변화시켜 총 20 종류의 공시체를 제작하였다. 공시체의 제 성능을 조사하기 위하여 압축 및 휨강도, 흡수 시험, 내열수성 실험, 내산성 시험, 세공분포 측정 및 SEM에 의한 미세조직 관찰 등을실시하였다. 그 결과 폴리머-결합재의 첨가량 증가에 따라 압축 및 휨강도는 현저히 증가되었고, 흡수율은 월등히 감소되었다. 내열수성 시험에 의하여 압축 및 휨강도는 월등히 감소되었으며 폴리머-결합재의 첨가율이 높은 고강도 공시체일수록 감소율은 크게 나타났다. 내열수성 시험에 의하여 세공율은 60.1% 증가되었으며 특히 세공직경 10(2)∼10(5) Å 범위의 세공량이 현저히 증가되었다. 폴리머-결합재의 첨가량 증가에 따라 내산성 시험에 의한 중량 및 강도 감소율은 현저히 감소되었으며 폴리머-결합재 첨가량은 16 wt%에서는 영(zero)에 접근하였다.
