Synthesis and Properties of Degradable Aliphatic Polyester Ionomer (I)
Abstract
The environmentally friendly degradable aliphatic PBS and PBSDMS ionomers were synthesized in order to investigate the properties of these ionomers. Poly(butylene succinate - co - buthylene 5-sulfoisophthalate) (PBS ionomer) was prepared from succinic acid, 1,4-butanediol, and dimethyl 5-sulfoisophthalate sodium salt (DMS). In thermostability, PBSDMS ionomers showed a lower stability than PBS. The melting point and weight loss temperature of PBSDMS ionomers decreased slowly with increase of DMS content. On hydrolyzing polyesters in buffer solution, the hydrolysis rates of PBS and PBSDMS ionomers were very slow in acidic, neutral and pH 10 buffer solutions, but increased quickly in a pH 12 buffer solution. The contact angle of PBS and PBSDMS ionomers to water was also measured. PBSDMS ionomer's contact angles decreased slowly with the increase of DMS content.

환경 친화성 폴리에스테르 이오노머의 융점과 물성을 다양하게 하기 위해서 poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) 주쇄에 dimethyl 5-sulfoisophthalate sodium salt (DMS) 함량을 다양하게 변화시켜 poly(buthylene succinate - co - buthylene 5-sulfoisophthalate) (PBSDMS)를 합성하였다. 열안정성 실험에서는, PBS 주쇄에 DMS 단량체가 함유된 PBSDMS 공중합체는 중량감소 온도와 융점이 낮아졌으며, DMS의 함량이 증가할수록 PBS보다 중량감소 온도와 융점이 점점 낮아졌다. 가수분해 실험에서 중성, 산성용액과 pH 10에서는 가수분해 속도가 느렸지만, pH 12에서 급격히 증가하는 모습을 보였다. 물에 대한 PBS의 contact angle은 79.7°였으나 DMS가 증가할수록 감소하여 PBSDMS20에서는 65.1°를 나타내었다.
