Research Papers : Characteristics of Electrochemically Regenerated Activated-Carbon-Waste Containing Phenol

Abstract

WS-GAC, WC-GAC and WL-GAC of activated carbon wastes containing phenol were electrochemically regenerated with Ti-Ir electrode in sodium chloride solution as supporting electrolyte by potentiostatic method. Electrochemical regeneration of activated carbon waste was carried out with samples containing 100mg/g phenol. Current density of 1.25A/dm^2 was applied during 120min in 1.0% sodium chloride solution. Methylene blue decoloration power(MBDP) was 142mL/g in 2.50A/dm^2 and electrolytic regeneration efficiency was 82.6%. Specific surface area possibility to reuse and its average pore diameter was 23.7~24.8 angstrom.

초록

페놀을 함유한 페활성탄 즉 WS-GAC, WC-GAC, WL-GAC 등을 지지전해질인 염화나트륨 용액 중에서 티타늄-이리듐(Ti-Ir) 전극(10×10cm^2)을 사용하여 정전위전해법으로 재생하였다. 페 활성탄을 전해 재생실험은 100mg/g 페놀을 함유한 시료에 전류밀도 1.25A/dm^2, 전해시간 120min, 지지전해질 농도 즉 염화나트륨 1.0% 용액에서 수행하였다. 전류밀도 2.50A/dm^2의 경우 메틸렌블루 탈색력은 142mL/g이었고 전해 재생효율은 82.6%이었다. 전해 재생된 활성탄은 비표면적과 총 세공용적이 신활성타에 비해 다소 낮았으나 평균 세공경은 23.7~24.8Å로서 활성탄으로 재사용 가능성이있음을 알 수 있다.
