Research Papers : Synthesis , Structure and Application of Manganese ( 2 ) Complex with Phenanthroline

Abstract

A Mn complex, [MnCl2(Phen)2], was synthesized with 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) as a ligand. This research has investigated the property and structure of the complex using magnetic moment, electronic spectrum, ESR, ESCA, and XRD. [MnCl2(Phen)2] was identified as having two molecules in a unit cell. Mn(II) metal ion was coordinated by two Cl ions and 4-nitrogen atoms, and its comples formed a distorted octahedron structure. The two Cl ions were cis-structure, and the two Phen ligands were nearly a planar structure, which was perpendicular to each other. As an evaluation of the Mn complex as a bleaching activator of sodium percarbonate, it was tested using red wine, morin, and coffee soiled solutions with fabrics at low temperatures. The result showed that it has a very good bleaching power adn can be used in various industrial applications.

초록

1,10-phenanthroline (Phen)을 리간드로 이용하여 망간 착화합물 [MnCl2(Phen)2]을 합성한 후 magnetic moment, electronic spectrum, ESR, ESCA 및 XRD를 이용하여 성질과 구조를 조사한 결과, 착화합물은 하나의 단위세포 안에 2분자가 존재하며, Mn(II) 중심금속 주위에 2개의 Cl 이온과 Phen 리간드의 4개의 질소원자가 distorted octahedron 구조를 이루며 배위결합하고 있었다. 이 때 Cl 이온들은 서로 cis 구조를 하고 있었고, 2개의 Phen 리간드 자체는 거의 평면구조를 가지며 서로 수직을 이루고있었다. 한편 무기표백제로 널리 사용되는 과탄산나트륨의 저온 표백활성제로서 이용을 검토하기 위해 적포도주, 모린 및 커피 오염액과 오염포에 대한 표백활성화력을 평가한 결과 우수한 효과를 나타내어 공업적으로 이용 가치가 상당할 것으로 기대된다.
