Preparaion of Activated Carbon Using a Pueraria Thunbergiana

Abstract

This paper summarizes a lab-scale preliminary preparation of activated carbon from Pueraria Thunbergiana. In each step of experiment, the optimum experimental conditions were obtained by varying the experimental parameters such as oxidation tempereture, carbonization tempereture and reaction time. At the activation temperature of about 900 ℃, the activated carbon was amorphous and its intraparticle pores were well developed. The micropore size distribution of the activated carbons measured by BET was identified in the range of 16.36 Å ~ 34.24 Å, and the specific surface area was 341 ~ 784 m(2)/g. Decolorization and adsorption capacities of the activated carbons, produced at different carbonization and activation conditions, were examined. The sample that was carbonized at 500 ℃ for 3 h and activated at 900 ℃ for 4 h had the best characteristics.

초록

본 논문은 칡셀룰로오스로부터 활성탄제조 연구를 요약하였다. 각 단계에서 최적의 실험조건은 산화온도, 탄화온도 및 반응시간과 같은 실험변수의 변화를 통해 얻었다. 활성탄은 비정형이고 세공은 900 ℃의 활성화 온도에서 잘 발달되었다. BET를 통해 측정된 세공크기분포는 16.36 Å ~ 34.24 Å이었고, 비표면적은 341 ~ 784 m(2)/g이었다. 다른 탄화 및 활성화 조건에서 제조된 활성탄의 탈색및 흡착성능을 실험하였다. 500 ℃에서 3 h 탄화하고 900 ℃, 4 h 동안 활성화한 시료가 가장 좋은 성능을 보였다
