Recovery of Styrene Monomer from Polystyrene Using Carbon Black from Pyrosis of Waste Tire
Abstract
Characteristics of oil products from thermal degradation of polystyrene were studied by using pyrolytic carbon black of waste tire as the recycling adsorbent. Pyrolysis experiments were performed with various temperatures (25∼500 ℃) and amounts of TCB loaded (10∼100 wt%). The recovered oil products were studied using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and gas chromatography (GC). From the experiments, it was found that the optimal condition for the maximum purity of monomers on the recovered oil products was approximately at 100 ℃ and 40 wt% TCB loaded. The recovered oil products were composed mainly of styrene monomers, and their purity can be 30% higher than those without the treatment of PS pyrolysis. From the analysis of adsorption compounds in packed bed, TCB has shown to be a good adsorption material for di-aromatics and tri-aromatics of PS pyrolytic gas at 100 ℃.

초록
본 연구에서는 폴리스티렌의 열분해를 통해 단량체를 회수하는 연구의 일환으로 폐타이어의 열분해 생성물인 카본블랙을 흡착제로 재활용하여 폴리스티렌의 열분해 생성 오일의 특성을 살펴보았다. 흡착제층의 온도(25, 100, 150, 200, 300, 500 ℃)와 흡착제의 충진량(10, 20, 40, 50, 100 wt%;TCB/PS)의 변화에 따른 생성오일의 특성을 GC/MS와 GC를 이용하여 분석하였다. 충진층의 온도와 충진량이 각각 100 ℃, 40 wt%인 조건에서 단순 열분해시보다 30%정도 단량체 순도가 높은 오일을 회수할 수 있었다. 충진제로 사용된 TCB는 100 ℃의 온도에서 di-aromatic 성분과 tri-aromatic 성분에 대해 흡착능이 뛰어남을 확인할 수 있었다.
