RESEARCH PAPERS : A Study on the Adsorption of Heavy Metals by Chitosan Obtained from Shrimp Shell

Abstract

Experimental investigation on the adsorption of heavy metal confounds as Fe2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Cr6+using chitosan was carried out. The adsorption of each component of heavy metal compounds was measured by Atomic Absorption apparatus. The range of optimum pH for the removal rates of heavy metal compounds was found pH 7.0∼9.0. The maximum time for the removal rate of Fe2+was observed about 15 min. The maximum time for the removal raters of Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, and Cr6+was observed about 25 min. The adsorption rates of heavy metal compounds by chitosan have been found in the order of Fe2+〉Cu2+〉Pb2+〉Zn2+〉Cd2+〉Mn2+〉Ni2+〉Cr6+.

초록

새우껍질로부터 얻어진 키토산을 이용하여 중금속 흡착상태를 알아 보기 위해 Fe2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Cr6+등의 중금속을 pH변화, 최적 pH에서 시간변화 시킨 후 원자 흡광 광도계를 분석한 결과는 8개 중금속들의 최적 흡착율에 대한 pH는 7.0∼9.0 범위이었으며, 최대의 흡착시간은 Fe2+가 15분, Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Cr6+가 25분임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 키토산에 의한 중금속들의 흡착된 량의 순서는 Fe2+〉Cu2+〉Pb2+〉Zn2+〉Cd2+〉Mn2+〉Ni2+〉Cr6+순으로 나타났다.
